two lips

Spicy tulips from Spicy
my gooey "Awwwwww" moment of the day: Spicy brought me some tulips from his garden.
blah-dee-blah...transition to knitting content:
Anthropologie capelet
pattern is anthropologie capelet from peony knits. i modified it for worsted weight and added a garter-bordered lace pattern to the sleeves, inspired by glampyre. i can't recall which stitch pattern i used, but it was from the trusty encyclopedia of knitting and crochet stitches. i knit on #8 knitpicks circs.
Anthropologie capelet back
the yarn is the infamous schaefer laurel that i got from bronwyn, my SP6. (go visit her--she's having a contest) the yarn is, and ever was, lovely in the skein, but i just couldn't figure out what to do with it. i think that i finally made the right choice. i still have a significant amount left, probably enough to make another string bag. the only problem i had was that it bled like a mofo when i washed it, and so i had to leave it to soak overnight. fortunately, i can't detect any blending of colors or fading in the finished product. mercerized cotton is not my favorite to knit with, but it does make a really nice fabric when you're done.

i still need to find some kind of closure for the collar. i was thinking a pearly brooch originally, but now i might crochet or knit a flower pin. or i might just leave it open. i'm lazy.

  4. I think it looks fine open, and really nice with your dress!

Oh, and I feel exactly the same way about sock yarn clubs. I love sock yarn, love knitting socks...but...really prefer to pick my own patterns and yarn.

I'd go for a frog closure of some sort.

  11. Your capelet in progress is really lovely. You might consider a one button with a loop closure.
