sundresses for summer

i heart dresses when it's hot, but i don't own very many. well, now i have one more.
Amy Butler Cabo dress
Cabo dress back
i used 2 yards of amy butler fabric and some scrap khaki twill for the bodice lining. i really like the contrasting lining. i had to use it because i didn't have enough amy butler fabric, but it worked out well. i modified the Cabo halter pattern to be a dress by using the skirt from simplicity 4994. i used size XS for the top and size 10 for the skirt. i shortened the skirt by 3 inches and it hits me just below the knee. the back hangs weirdly, giving me baggy butt-back. i probably should've put some back darts in. oh well. i put some pleats in the front, as the bodice didn't quite fit the skirt properly.

it's still a super comfy sundress, and i love the print.

  4. Wow - that print is spectacular. At least from the photo standpoint the color and graphics hide any bagginess. Hey - a good excuse to knit up a lacy shawl, yes? Excellent job. I hope you get a lot of wear out of it because it really does look great.
