Leaf Lace Shawl, C'est fini!

Grandma's Leaf Lace ShawlMy Grandma's shawl is done. Leaf lace shawl from fibertrends, knitpicks shadow in grape jelly, 2 hanks. knit on #6 bryspun and cheap aluminum circs. i knit 15 repeats of the lace pattern. i had enough yarn that i probably could've done one or two more, but i didn't want to run out of yarn. the shawl is in between the small and large sizes.

Finished shawl modeled

i made a good choice for my first lace shawl. it was very easy to knit, if somewhat tedious, and more importantly, easy to fix mistakes. not that i made any, ahem. i would make this shawl again someday, but i have many other patterns to try out first. one thing i did realize is that i have a lot to learn about blocking.

Leaf lace shawl detaili like how blocking lace is like magic, and how i can take something that looks like poo and transform it to be airy and open. the problem is, i had no idea what i was doing while i was doing it, and one side is blocked more severely than the other. hopefully it's not too noticeable. the shawl is surprisingly warm while being very lightweight, as i noticed while i was knitting it b/c my lap kept getting hot. i think that my grandma will like it. ahh, it feels good to be finished.

edited to add: oh yeah! i totally forgot to give mad props to my G (aka my SP6), PennyKarma for gifting me the pattern. thanks, pal. i couldn't have done it without you. seriously.

  13. Anonymous: the colorful striped shawl is the "simplest garter stitch shawl." if you google that phrase, i'm sure you can find the pattern. there was no set stripe sequence. i just varied it according to the yarn i had available to me.

    hope this helps.
