it's alive!

Leaf Lace Shawl Revivalit's been a long time, shouldn't a left you, without a dope beat to step to...ok, my song lyric analogy kinda fell apart at the end. anyway. the old leaf lace shawl has been revived. i had been thinking about finishing it and giving it to my grandma for christmas, but she's been in poor health lately. i thought that the shawl might be beneficial sooner rather than later, so i dug it up, found some needles, and jumped back on the horse. did i mention how much i enjoy mixing metaphors? this weekend, i don't really have any pressing plans, other than to get in some reading time and watch arrested development (ahh, don't i have such a stressful life?), so i should be able to make significant progress. plus now, i have a reason to finish. i like the pattern, but it does get mind-numbingly boring pretty quick. if i counted correctly, i am currently on my 12th repeat, so i only have 5 more to go for the larger shawl. the picture is pretty boring, but you can see that i'm almost done with the first hank of knitpicks shadow, and will be joining the second pretty soon. my #6 bryspuns are being used for butterfly, so i had to whip out the cheapie circs. i don't know if they are susan bates or whatever, but the cord is very inflexible and generally sucks. however, i'd say the joins on the bryspuns suck equally as bad. i really need some new circs for lace. maybe i'll pick up some inox this weekend or something. so it's not exactly knitting for the amazing lace, but at least it's lace.

  1. That's really sweet. I'm sure it will be something she'll treasure.

I've started my first ever 'real' lace project this week (with lace weight yarn). I've had to rip it out about four times so far!

  4. Oooooh purple. Also I can say with confidence that the new KP circs are pointier than Inox circs, and the cord is so amazingly wonderfully flexible..
