Speed Knitting...

specifically, how does one knit in a speedy manner? i always thought that i was a pretty fast knitter, but evidently that assumption is incorrect, at least according to Last Minute Knitted Gifts.
Camisole from Last Minute Knitted Gifts
I fired up the picot camisole yesterday. i managed to get up to 10 inches out of 13 for the body, but there is no way i could have finished it in the specified 6-8 hours. thankfully, it's not for a last minute knitted gift--it's for me, so no harm, no foul. i'm using the schaefer laurel that just doesn't seem to know what it should be. i will definitely have enough yarn to make this shirt, but the worsted weight cotton is so heavy. it just doesn't seem practical. the colors and the shine of the yarn are very nice, however, so i'm going to plug away at this one and hope it doesn't stretch out unattractively.

i also whipped out a pair of socks this weekend. no, not any of the socks that i've already started. a different pair.
Fixation anklets
Sock Scrap Anklets
these are cuff-down fixation anklets, using some of the yarn i got from the sock scrap swap hosted by straying power. the luck of the draw would have it that she was my scrap pal as well. the main color is cream, and the heels and toes are a variegated blue. i used #3 dpns on 48 stitches. my other fixation anklets were on 52 stitches, but they stretched out over time. this pair seems to fit a little better. i really like the contrasting heels and toes, but they leave so many ends to weave in. i guess it's not all that bad, just annoying.

after i finish the cami, i promise to go back and work on some projects that i've already started. seriously.
