Muy Caliente

Caliente crochet vest
Caliente vest back
I saw this vest on knitandtonic's site and thought it was cute, but the idea of knitting an item of clothing to look like crochet seemed a bit backwards to me. So, i tried my hand at crocheting my own version. I used my trusty G hook and 3 skeins of knitpicks shine in red. i crocheted a band of ribbing and joined into a circle. Then i picked up the stitches and began the double crochet body in the round. i threw in a bit of shaping and then worked back and forth after the armholes. I knit the back and front and crochet seamed the shoulders. I couldn't figure out a way to crochet the armhole and neck ribbing without having to sew it onto the sweater, so i picked up the stitches with a #3 circ and knit four rows of 2x2 rib, binding off loosely. and that's pretty much it.

i loved working with the shine. i made soleil in shine, and i'm really having to stop myself from ordering more. i picked up spring vogue knitting today. a few things caught my eye, but i don't know if anything is actually knitworthy. the same with the new issue of knitty. i'm mostly having a hard time b/c i was hoping to find an appropriate pattern for my new cotton yarns, but nothing fits so far. i'll have to think about it some more.
