Holiday Detour Socks Done!

Holiday Detour SocksHoliday Detour Socks Modeled
Finally. i finished up my holiday detour socks this weekend. i had made the first sock while i was avoiding holiday xmas gifts. i finished it, put it aside, and just made the second sock this past week. this was my first attempt at matching the stripes. it didn't work out perfectly, but it doesn't look too far off.

They are my toe-up stockinette pattern with reverse heel flap and gusset in knitpicks simple stripes on #1 aluminum dpns. the foot is 68 stitches, increasing to 80 stitches at the cuff. the socks measure 12.5 inches from base of heel to cuff. I am glad to be finished with them. normally i alternate plain stockinette socks with socks of more difficulty, but the last few pairs i've completed have been super boring.

i've been debating over the past week which sock i should start next to give myself a challenge, and i've concluded it's going to be the Canada sock, from Knitting on the Road, using the knitpicks essential my knitty sp5 pal, tesoro, got me. the colors she sent me are perfect for the sock, and this will only be my second sock using colorwork. it should be fun.

i also worked on the secret project. it appears to be going well, thus far. it's not working up super quickly, but i guess the point is to take my time to be sure i am happy with the results.
